Buy the controller for inspiration in buying the actual Wii. You could look at it everyday and play with it, pretending you are playing the Wii. When you actually get the Wii, you won't have to run out and get an extra controller unless you want a couple more. So in my opinion go for it, at least you have a PIECE of the Wii before you get the actual system.
