Nope. Sorry, but the Nintendo Wii, unlike the PS3, is not "region-free."
Unless you have a mod chip installed with "region detect" set to "disabled" you're out of luck. I've tried Japanese games on my U.S. Wii and I get an error message.
Before launch a Nintendo VP announced the Wii would be region-free but I guess they changed their minds at the last minute.
As mentioned above, a mod chip could allow your U.S. Wii to play Japanese region games. But there are legal implications and it may be more trouble than its worth.
We won't have to wait as long as the Europeans to get our hands on Super Smash Bros. Braw. It's confirmed release date for the U.S. is less than a month away!
