Announced today (7/26): Target to push Blu-Ray this X'mas
Target doesn't normally carry any standalone high def disc players in any of its brick-and-mortar locations (aside from the game consoles/attachments), but, for the coming holiday season, they will be announcing tomorrow that they will be setting up endcaps to promote and sell Blu-Ray.

Another fantastic victory for Sony!
Target is the second-largest retailer (by sales revenue) in the United States and was listed in the Top 500 largest e-retailers Guide by Internet Retailer in 2007.
The company will formally announce today that they have chosen to go Sony Blu-ray high-definition DVDs as opposed to rival format, HD-DVD.
Target will kick-start by selling a Sony Blu-Ray player as well as BD roms during the critical holiday shopping period.
This is a massive blow to Microsoft.
