Hudson Soft announces Wii Sports rival - Deca Sporta

Hudson Soft announces Wii Sports rival - Deca Sporta

Jeux-France reports the announcement of Hudson Soft’s Deca Sporta, a Wii Sports-alike that incorporates the use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck in a variety of disciplines not included in the title that acted as nearly everyone’s introduction to the motion-sensing console.

The scans acquired by the French gaming website show off a number of Deca Sporta’s activities including volleyball, soccer, archery, badminton, basketball, go-karting and motocross. Examples of how the Wii Remote and Nunchuck will be used to control each event are demonstrated by a cheeky chappy in a tracksuit who certainly looks to be enjoying his time with the game.

Whilst the controls in some of the events such as badminton and archery are simple enough to digest, we’re more interested in how the likes of go-karting are going to work, particularly with Mario Kart Wii known to be in the pipeline. Nintendo’s latest console has yet to conclusively and comprehensively prove that its tilty-turny controls can handle the tight, responsive input required for the likes of karting - could Deca Sport be the first?

Like Wii Sports, Hudson Soft has plumped for a simple, cartoon-like graphical style, although the level of detail is still considerably greater than Nintendo’s efforts.

Deca Sporta due for release in Japan in early 2008; we’ll keep you posted on any news of a Western launch.

Hudson Reveals Deca Sports Via V-Jump

Japanese publication V-Jump revealed the first pieces of information for Hudson Entertainment's Wii game Deca Sports.

Deca Sports appears to utilize an aesthetic similar to Nintendo's own Wii Sports, albeit with more character and environment detail. V-Jump provided the control schemes for seven sports in the game, described below, although the final three sports are currently being withheld.

Archery: Aim with the Wii Remote, pull backwards and then release the button(s) - either A & B or just B - to let the arrow fly.

Go Karting: Hold the Wii Remote sideways and tilt to steer.

Motocross: Similar to ExciteTruck, tilting the Wii Remote backwards and forwards alters the pitch of the bike when in the air.

Volleyball: Swing either upwards or downwards using just the Wii Remote.

Soccer: Move the character with the Nunchuck's analogue stick and pass with Wii Remote movements.

Basketball: Move the character using the Nunchuk's analogue stick and dribble by moving the Wii Remote up and down. A throwing motion involving both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk shoots the ball.

Badminton: Similar to Wii Sports Tennis, players swing the Wii Remote while their on-screen character moves automatically.

V-Jump did not specify a release date for Deca Sports in Japan, nor mention Mii integration or online functionality. It is unknown if the game will see a release in other territories.
