Mario Kart Wii WiFi is amazing!!!

I mean, it is 1000x better than Brawl wifi and it got delayed twice D:<

1) 12 player races with no lag at all.

2) You connect with up to 12 other people in literally like 5 seconds.

3) While you wait for the next game, you can watch and scout out the skill levels of the people you are about to play.

4) The ranking system is very fair. It doesn't tell anyone your record, but you win points according to your current point count, your opponent's point counts, and most importantly, where you placed in the race.

5) You can race the world record ghosts. You can even race random people's ghosts, and you can send time trial challenges by sending your ghost to your friends(which I have had an absolute blast with)

6) You can join your friends in the race they're currently in, and you can see what all of your friends are doing.

Great job Nintendo I hope you other titles are like this!

I agree wholeheartedly, the WFC is AMAZINg, it's like the wifi was the main feature tey worked on, not just an addon like Brawl's "oh yea and it'll have WFC play too" the MKwii's wifi is excelent.

I do love the wifi of mario kart. I wish there were more mini games to play. Like a capture the flag or something like that. But, I can not really complain.

The WiFi on MKWii is truly awesome. I love the fact that I haven't had a single laggy match yet. The battle mode is by far my favorite WiFi mode; I like the VS mode, but I'm much better in the battle mode. Some more battle mode games would be better, like Double Dash's Bob-omb Blast (or something like that) battle. But on a whole, I really can't complain.

Yes, It's a lot awesome!
There is not lag, but sometimes, your adversaries will be disappearing and reappearing, and it's a bit confusing.

that's what lag is, Deidara, it's just you're not the one lagging, the others probably have dialup (56k) internet connections.

tis is the way lag, and a server based game works.

your PC (or console in this case) sends data to the server several times a second, this is deterined by your Ping (MS) the MS is the ammount of time (in miliseconds) it takes for your console to send data to the server and for the server to send data back. the lower the ping the better. most people have a ping of around 20~50 depending on the game.

but there are two kinds of servers, I do not know which kind any of ninty's wifi games use. there are Listen [L] servers and Dedicated [D] servers. Listen servers are being run on someone's console while that person is playing the game, dedicated servers are servers that are being run on a computer that does nothing but host games, noone is playing the game from this. Dedicated servers are allways better because the machine running them only has to deal with keeping track of items, charecter positions, and level events (like the statues falling down in Block Plaza) a Listen server has to do all that while rendering the graphics and calculating controller imput.

Lag happens when someone's connection isn't that good to the server. sometimes people's ping or MS can get into the 300s that is when people lag. their computer (or console) is sending data twice or three times a second while most connections are going at upwards of 15 times a second. so the server has to guess where the person is imbetween those transfers. so if you see someone "jumping", "twitching", or "dissappearing" it means the server is guessing for the person alot. it would look like this

Player Console [PC]: server, I'm here [122, 211] moving at an agle of [130] at a speed of [2]
Server [S]: your ping is 300, so by the time I get more data from you, using the numbers you last transmitted you should be here, [132, 200]
[PC]: during the time I wasn't sending data I stopped and am now at [125, 205]

so the server guesses wrong and has to correct itself, you can see how bad it CAN get, especially if someone's ping is closer to 1000, I've seen it happen.

yeah I used to play allot of Halo 3 on xbox live, lag got to be so frustrating, you would be about to kill someone, and they disappear. Lag is a big part of why I quit playing that game, if one person was lagging it screwed everyone up. Mario Kart on the other hand is flawless so far. I have not noticed any lag, and connecting to a game is really fast. The only trouble I have had with it was connecting with a friend in a regional or international match. But overall this game rocks. It is fun for everyone not just gamers, my wife and I love playing together online or just against each other. Even my parents enjoy it, and they are pushin 50.
