Casual gaming is getting out of hand

Girls like babies, cooking food and rubbish stuff like that, right? Yes they do, and Ubisoft knows this because it's putting out baby-raising and cooking simulators for DS.

Called 'Imagine Babyz' (these 'Z' spellingz in game titlez really need to stopz) the game poses all the challenges of raising a child. How exciting does that sound? And you can go online and, get this... exchange clothes!

Ubisoft is also readying Master Chef, Animal Doctor, Fashion Designer and Figure Skater as part of the Imagine range targeted at young girls.

"Ubisoft is excited to finally offer young girls a line of games that give them the chance to explore their hobbies and interests in interactive and creative experiences," says Ubisoft.

What better way to prepare for life as a housewife? Excuse us while we stick to playing proper videogames.

I see this as a positive thing. Ubisoft are helping Nintendo in its goal to appeal to a wide range of audiences. There are not many games for young girls on any console, so Ubisoft releasing a line of games for girls exclusive for the DS can only be a positive thing for both Nintendo and the gaming industry.

Suggesting the games will prepare the little girls for a life as a housewife is a little extreme. They're only games, and they're about what most little girls are interested in. I don't know if you've noticed this, but little girls like simulating real life situations such as raising a baby or cooking.

Absolutely... little girls really like to play games and similate as they are grown-ups.

That's why they are developing cooking mama 2...

Well, believing or not there are a lot of little boys with the same interests. ROFL

But yeah, I don't see it as a minus. The bigger the gaming audience the better, and I don't mind sharing my gamer space with some wannabe mommies. ^^v I'm not interested in those games (except sims and harvest moon...) but that doesn't mean I'll condemn them.

It's not stopping people like us who like the more... hardcore games from playing the games we like to play. See?

I don't condemn ubisoft or any of the gamers like that for playing those games or making them, but I do have this to say: if the audience grows so large that it neglects the true gamers (the ones who play games like FPS and Adventure not simulators like nintendogs or some suhch) then I will be absolutely pissed, but by the time that happens (if it ever will) I will have started making my own games so I will have a say.

I see this as a plus for the companies, wider audience +more games output = great profit
