the wii headset

an editorial got posted today on IGN, it shows the what the wii would suffer from online gaming if it did not have a way of communicating by speech.

i wasnt to sure if nintendo would do a headset because all the kids playing the wii online could get insulted or might hear swear words ect but finding out that the DS also had a headset for its online games what could be the problem...

but after this editorial and all the complaints Nintendo would be dumb not to put a headset on the wii.

i think that bw2 and smash bros would disbenefit the most from not having a good source of communication. And heroes 2's online would no way be as good without the headset (especially with 32 people online). reggie said that there would be a surprise in late september, so hope to god that it is the announcment of DA HEADSET. what are your thoughts?

I agree with what IGN says, no headset + lots of people per server over long distances = disaster

Smash apparently (so far) will have small messages that you can send ot a freind using taunt and a direction on the + pad these messages are preset so it'd be good to have several choice responses

in my opinion, headset is a must for team-work and strategy games. But for brawl, is it really necessary? It's a plus to have headset enabled of course, but for Brawl, I think most players are going to use headset to mainly talk shit, which I think it's annoying.

Maybe that's one reason Nintendo doesn't want to push their online functionality including headset, because most Nintendo players are kids, parents wouldn't want them to hear bad words from other players. So Nintendo decides to stay out of trouble. Hmmm sounds right.

I think you're right eventually they'll have to have one, but it will probably not be required, like when there's Heroes 2 that will DEFINETLY need a headset lol, but for where nintendo is Right Now with wifi play I don't think they need it. for awhile

s dimple statement, but very true for some people, I think that's one reason nintendo DOESN'T have a headset for wii yet.

I think it's more of a matter of choice, if nintendo DOES make a headset there will definetly be an option to "turn off voice chat in online play" wifi games

I definitly think there needs to be a Wii Headset. I was playing Mario Strikers Charged today, and I wanted to talk to the guy I was playing. It really sucks that Nintendo has been slow with putting standard hardware for other systems on the shelves for the Wii.

see? that's one major reason Nintendo should develop one, you can make a larger freinds roster with it, and find more people to play with regularly, if the wii doesn't have a headset when Heroes 2 comes out I'm going to probaly never play it online

I think like someone said before on here make it available to those of us that aren't kids. Like on xbox live under parental controls you can set it so you only hear friends you have added then you wouldnt have to worry about what is being said or not..imho
