Star Fox 64 doesn't really have a save option, all it does is save if you get a medal on a level (to get a medal you need a certain amount of kills). and even then you have to beat Venom to get it to save. it's not all that long though, so it doesn't matter unless you can only play for 15 minutes at a time. The only thing you unlock is (apparently) to be on foot in multiplayer, (after you unlock the tanks) and for that you ave to have a medal on every level
