Wii & Wep 128 : incorrect code - no error message

I'm having a problem with my Wii and setting up my wireless wep-128 network to work with it. My problem is unusual in that I'm not getting any error code to trouble shoot with.

Under the security featuers, once you select your wireless connection or SSID, you're asked to enter your wep key. (we use wep-128) However, upon entering our key the Wii constantly gives us an 'incorrect password/key' message dialog box after putting in our key, with no error code.

The kicker is this: the key is correct, it's the same one we use on our home network. It's a 26 length string using only A-Z 0-9 characters. The odd part is that it won't even try to test the connection, upon entering the key and hitting the 'next' button it simply tells us that the 'key is incorrect' without even trying it.

Now if i put in a key string for a 64 bit key, it'll take it and try to test the connection with it. I'm guessing the Wii doesn't support wep-128?
