On sims castaway for wii how do I get monkeys to gather wood??

I have befriended many chimps and one I even have a relationship of 91 and I still can't get them to gather wood and there is no special option please help

Make sure you scroll all the way up the menu you get when you are near the chimp. Keep going up the little menu to the option "Ask To Gather...." and then you can choose what you want them to collect.
