to spin it you have to have a "Perfect serve"

It's easier if you are a pro, my cousin kept hitting me balls by the outside area, that you can't hit, because he's a pro.

Perfect serves are really all about time, as is the tennis, (besides hitting on left+ right sides), and I think you can't really control it...

(perfect serves have a white path behind them and are faster, which is almost impossible for the opponent to hit, because of the two factors of timing and where your MII is during the game).

Seems like the above answers think you are asking about how to serve. I read your question that you want to know how to spin the ball. I think I can help. For some reason, Wii Tennis has come easy for me. My rating right now is 2053.

The Wii Remote senses the angle in which it is being held while you are swinging your "racquet" at the ball. So, if you want to spin the ball, imagine how you would hold a racquet in real life. You'd have to tilt it a certain way.

For topspin, your wrist is heavily involved...you have to "flick" your wrist as you swing the racguet so the racquet moves over the top half of the ball.
For underspin, you have to hit slightly under the ball with your racquet angled downwards.
For sidespin either way, you have to hit along the side of the ball with your racquet angled sideways.

If you've never played tennis in real life, watch a little tennis on TV and see how they do it. It helps a lot. Good luck.

In response to the other answers, the 'perfect' serves can easily be returned, you just have to be quick
In response to your actual question I believe you can put spin on the ball as detailed by the last answer but it is better just to concentrate on returning the ball, much easier!
