First of all, make sure you have a wireless router. If you don't have one, have a wireless usb/network adapter. Once you have those set up, make sure they're functioning properly and can receive signals and everything (test it out to see if you can surf the net).

Next, go to your wii and enter the wii settings (bottom left corner of wii menu). After entering wii settings, hit the arrows at the top and scroll until you see "internet". Click on that and then click "wireless connection". Click "connection 1" or whatever's available and it will locate an access point. On the list available, look for your wireless network/channel name. The more green it is, the better the reception (shows beside network name). Click on your network and connect to it. If it is secure and requires a password, enter that as well. It will do a test connection. Once it works you're connected. Turn on Wiiconnect 24 and you can send and receives messages and updates.

1 . Turn on your Nintendo Wii by plugging it into a power source and pressing the power button.

2 . Press the "A" button on your Wii controller to continue from the warning screen.

3 . "Wii" button in the left hand corner of the main menu, by using your Wii remote to move the hand shaped cursor over the "Wii" button and pressing the "A" button on the controller to select the Wii options.

4 . Click the "Wii Settings" box on the right.

5 . Select the left arrow to scroll over to more options. Then select "Internet" from the list and "Connection Settings."

6 . Choose an open connection by selecting the
"Connection 3: None" option, then the "Wireless Connection" option, and the "Search for an Access Point Option."

7 . Choose the access point you want to use from the list that will be displayed. Save the settings by clicking "OK." Then click "OK" to start a connection test. When the test is complete you are connected.
